If there's something I love about London is its endless treasure collection of vintage and retro treasures. You can find something unique for your birthday, a nostalgic present for Christmas, or something more meaningful than a traditional gift set, London is a dream for anyone who appreciates the charm of the past.

One of my favorite weekends is a stroll through the city's antique markets. Portobello Road always tops my list, not just because of its colourful chaos but also for the variety of items available. You can find everything from mid-century homeware and enamel kitchen tins, to classic vinyl records that still jangle with life. I'm not sure how many times I've taken home "just one small item" that turned into a whole bag of treasures.

For something a little more well-curated, I frequently head to Shoreditch and Islington. There are vintage shops that are boutique in these neighbourhoods which specialize in certain times. For instance there's a store which specializes in 1940s-era fashion and another which focuses on 1970s lighting. You can spend a whole hour chatting with the owner about the history of the lamp or the leather satchel.
